Lynne K Brown Fine Art

About Lynne Brown
Starting at a very young age Lynne has been doing art in one form or another beginning with a piece of chalk and an old-fashioned chalkboard. Sketching just seemed to come naturally to her and horses became a favorite subject. The woods and waters behind the Connecticut home where she grew up also cultivated her love of forested landscapes, waterways, and the interaction between the two.
Lynne began painting in oils as a teen, studying with Connecticut area artists. She continued with design training during college at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry where she studied Landscape Architecture. That design schooling gave her a good foundation of understanding composition and color use in both two and three dimensional applications. She also learned to identify and draw trees, shrubs, and assorted plant materials.
Currently, she lives in southwestern New Hampshire, with her husband and two active dogs, where she is inspired to paint the beautiful scenes and seasons of the Monadnock Region. "I love the state I live in. Its varied topography, changing seasons, and abundance of wetlands, ponds, and wildlife offer endless artistic inspiration. The ever-changing light and weather conditions here add another whole dimension to each scene. I could do a painting a day of the same place and each one would be quite different from the other."
Lynne paints mainly with oils for their luminosity and workability but will also paint with acrylics upon occasion. "My favorite subject for painting is the landscape. I will sometimes incorporate figures (animals and/or people) into that landscape if the scene calls for it. My main goal with my painting is to capture the mood of the moment with technique, color, and contrast, hopefully evoking a positive emotional response from the viewer. I love hearing from my collectors about my paintings they now have hanging in their homes and how much they continue to enjoy them."
